Action Adventure Films
Action adventure is film genre that uses a plot that centers on a hero's (or a heroine or both) journey to accomplish a noble mission. The story often unfolds within a historical period and place. Sometimes, real historical figures are included in the plot, making the storyline more real and thus, more exciting.
As the name suggests, action adventure films uses the elements of an action movie's movement-intensive sequences to create an exciting and thrilling scene. Examples include car chase, a hide-and-seek scene, or a well-orchestrated fight scene.
This film genre also utilizes a larger-than-life production scope such as desert, underwater, great plains, or even outer space. When these elements are fused within a plot rich with extraordinary challenges, the result is an action adventure film with a proven formula for a blockbuster hit.
The scope of the action adventure category sometimes crosses epic films (a detailed saga of a hero), disaster films (although the attention is more on the hero and sequence of action rather than on a particular disaster unfolding), and war films (although it does not faithfully recreate a particular war highlight in history).
Because of their nature, action adventure films generally appeals to a wide range of audiences. Its high entertainment value attracts adults and children alike.
These types of films are often released during the summer season in the United States in order to maximize the profits for the producers.
